Itinerary

Day 1

Traveling

Depart from New York (JFK) for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.

Day 2

Zambezi National Park View Accommodation

On arrival in Johannesburg board your connecting flight to Victoria Falls, where you will be met and transferred to the Lodge.

Overnight on a full board basis at Imbabla Zambezi Safari Lodge.

Day 3

Zambezi National Park

Your early morning game drive is followed by a scrumptious brunch. The mid day is at leisure.

Enjoy High Tea before departing on a river safari.

Overnight on a full board basis at Imbabla Zambezi Safari Lodge.

Day 4

VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE View Accommodation

After your morning game drive and brunch, you will be collected and transferred to the Zambezi National Park, to the riverside camp.

Your guide will give a thorough briefing, which will cover; conditions of the river and rapids, canoeing instruction, safety and general information.

Overnight on a full board basis, camping on the river bank.

Day 5

VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE

A full English Breakfast is served in the morning before an hour game drive upstream to the put- in point. Today is spent canoeing - (10 miles) - downstream, running small grade one and two rapids, exploring channels and bird and game viewing. This day includes the Sansimba rapids. A picnic lunch is served on the mainland or an island.

Day 6

VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE View Accommodation

A delightful English breakfast is served, after which you will board your canoes and the day is spent canoeing another 10 miles downstream to the mighty Victoria Falls Falls. Rapids canoed today include the "Kandahar Rapids". The scenery, channels and the rapids on both respective days are very different. Cold minerals & beers are served at the end of the canoe safari.

Afterwards you will be transferred to the Elephant Camp, where you will experience a once in a lifetime Elephant interaction.

Day 7

HWANGE NATIONAL PARK View Accommodation

After breakfast you will be transferred to Victoria Falls for a scheduled tour of the Falls from the Zimbabwean Side.

Afterwards, you will be transferred to the famous Hwange National Park and then to Somalisa Camp. Somalisa Camp is a place where tranquillity meets adventure. Where one moment you are sipping on your gin and tonic, listening to the distant baritone roar of a lion coalition off on the hunt, and the next you are gazing over at a congregation of elephants at your doorstep, peacefully sharing a sundowner with you.

Overnight on a full board basis at African Bush Camps-Somalisa Camp.

Day 8

HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

The day is spent on safari in Hwange National Park. Over 100 species of mammals reside here, whilst almost 400 species of birds decorate the skies. Perhaps most exciting is the 40,000-strong population of tusker elephants, whose presence is world-renowned and a joy to watch day after day.

Overnight on a full board basis at African Bush Camps-Somalisa Camp.

Day 9

DEPARTURE

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and onward connection to the US.

Day 10

Traveling

Arrival in the United States at New York JFK airports.


Note

This tour can begin in Washington Dulles instead of New York, however, this would necessitate an overnight stop in Johannesburg at the beginning of the journey before flying to Maun. Please contact us for prices for this option. Zambezi Canoeing Difficulty The majority of people who join trips are first time canoeists. No previous experience is required and our staff are specially trained to prepare and guide you through the day. Children from 7 upwards can canoe if accompanied by a parent and fit into a lifejacket. Management retain the right to refuse a child who they feel is unsuitable for the activity for any reason.
