Itinerary

Day 1

TRAVELING

Depart from Washington Dulles on your South African Airways flight.

Day 2

DAKAR

On arrival at Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Hotel Le Ndiambour or similar.

Day 3

DAKAR

After breakfast depart the hotel and go on a tour of Metropolitan Dakar.

Visit the colorful markets including Tilen Market, famous for a variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Visit the National Art Gallery and the picturesque district of Medina.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Hotel Le Ndiambour or similar.

Day 4

DAKAR

After breakfast depart the hotel and visit the Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the “Door of No Return”.

The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a lecture by the curator on the history of Goree Island.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Hotel Le Ndiambour or similar.

Day 5

DAKAR

After breakfast you will be met and depart Dakar for a tour of Pink Lake, a rare natural phenomena caused by a unique combination of microorganism and high concentration of salts which gives the lake its pink color.

Interact with the “Salt Harvesters.” This afternoon continue to St. Louis, Senegal’s former French Colonial Capital.

Overnight on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at La Residence Hotel or similar.

Day 6

DAKAR

After breakfast you will depart the hotel and tour St-Louis, the former French Colonial Capital of Senegal which still has the appearance of an old provincial town – circa 1800’s. Explore the narrow streets flanked by houses with carved wooden balconies and verandas.

Overnight on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at La Residence Hotel or similar.

Day 7

DAKAR

After breakfast, depart the hotel and head to Dakar.

En route to Dakar, visit Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary which has a vast array of birds including pelicans, ducks, flamingos which are among the nearly 400 bird species. Continue to Dakar for dinner.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Hotel Le Ndiambour or similar.

Day 8

DEPARTURE

Enjoy breakfast and morning at leisure before departing to the airport for your flight to the United States.

Day 9

TRAVELING

Arrival in the United States at Washington Dulles airport.
