Day 1

Depart from New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD) for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.

Day 2

On arrival in South Africa, connect on your South African Airways flight to Victoria Falls.

You will be met by your local English speaking representative on arrival who will transfer you to your hotel.

Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Ilala Lodge

Day 3

This morning you will collected for a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world. Described as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (the Smoke that Thunders) by the locals, at peak flow the spray from the falls can reach 1,300 feet into the air!

From here you will transfer to the banks of the Zambezi for a sundowner cruise on the luxury Ra-Ikane cruiser. Celebrate the end to another day in Africa as you glide along the river where you may be lucky enough to spot hippos and crocodiles.

Day 4

After breakfast you will be met by your local driver for the transfer from Victoria Falls to the Hwange National Park.

Hwange became the royal hunting grounds to the Ndebele warrior-king Mzilikazi in the early 19th Century and was set aside as a National Park in 1929. Hwange boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded. The elephants of Hwange are world famous and the Park's elephant population is one of the largest in the world. The park is approximately 5,000sq miles in area.

Somalisa is a small intimate tented camp tucked away subtly under a canopy of an acacia tree island on an ancient river system. Having only 12 beds, the camp has been designed as an environmentally low impact camp giving you a barefoot luxury experience with understated elegance.

Settle into your lodge before your afternoon photographic safari in search of Africa's big game, under the guidance of your expert ranger.

Return to the lodge for dinner and a good night's sleep.

Day 5

Full day on safari at Somalisa. Activities at Somalisa include guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives and spot lighting as well as game viewing from hides. Walking and game drives will allow you the opportunity to observe elephant, kudu and sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species.

Overnight on a Fully Inclusive basis at Somalisa Lodge

Day 6

Time permitting enjoy an early morning safari before your road transfer to Victoria Falls Airport. Depart on your flight with South African Airways to Johannesburg and onwards connection to North America.

Day 7

Arrival in the United States at New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD)

Note

This tour can begin in Washington Dulles instead of New York, however, this would necessitate an overnight stop in Johannesburg at the beginning of the journey before flying to Victoria Falls. Please contact us for prices for this option.
