Day 1

Depart from New York or Washington DC for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.

Day 2

On arrival in Johannesburg you will connect onwards for your 2 hour flight on South African Airways to Cape Town, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Maybe take a trip in the cable car up Table Mountain or a boat ride for a poignant visit to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years.

Perhaps take time to explore the vibrant V&A Waterfront with its many shops, restaurants and activities available as well as the fascinating Two Oceans Aquarium. In the summer months maybe head for the white sand beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay for people watching and soaking up the African Sun. Whatever else, you will not be at a loss for things to do!

Day 5

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Port Elizabeth. You will be met on arrival and transferred by road to Shamwari Game Reserve, a privately owned 25 000 ha of prime wildlife terrain, situated in the malaria free Eastern Cape Province.

Long Lee Manor, originally built in 1910, offers a distinctive Colonial experience. This splendidly restored Edwardian Manor House offers guests refined comfort, congenial service and enticing cuisine in the African bush.

Bushmans River Lodge, is a Victorian homestead that offers an intimate atmosphere that is a welcoming reminder of true South African hospitality. Beautifully decorated in an artistic ethnic theme, this lodge is another representation of the true uniqueness of Shamwari.

Riverdene Lodge, the colonial-style, with nine inter-leading luxury rooms, rim flow pool, supervised playroom, spacious green lawns and jungle gym facility ensures entertainment for the whole family.

Sarili Lodge is a new luxury lodge exclusively for families. An environmentally friendly private African thatch designed villa with a spacious deck overlooking the Bushman’s River with expansive views of the plains, the lodge is positioned in the southern region of the Reserve.

Day 6

Game viewing is carried out during the morning and evening when you are guided by your game ranger in an open game viewing vehicle. The game drives will take between three and four hours, with a sundowners stop at sunset and a coffee stop in the morning. Guided walks can often be the highlight of your African trip, for it is only then that you gain a true perspective of the fauna and flora around you. In between game drives your time is filled with relaxing, reading, spa treatments, swimming, enjoying delicious cuisine, a game walk, or a visit to one of the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary's.

Day 7

After an early game drive, enjoy breakfast and then transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight Johannesburg and onward connection to the United States.
