Depart from New York or Washington, DC for your flight to Cape Town, South Africa via Johannesburg, on South African Airways.

Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport, you will go through customs, then connect with your domestic flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be met by a SAA Vacations representative and transferred to your hotel.

You can frolic on the beach with penguins by day and spend the evening savoring every bite of a world-class meal in a sophisticated urban restaurant.

Spend your last day in Cape Town doing some last minute shopping or visit one of the many places of interest.

Cape Town is a fabulously diverse and vibrant city; from its beautiful natural attributes to its colorful culture, stunning wine farms and captivating history - it's a tourist heaven. Cape Town offers historic and cultural sites, world-class museiums and bustling markets, inviting beaches and lush gardens, as well as great restaurants and wonderful shopping. While South Africa is perhaps best known for its game parks and natural splendors; it is also a land whose cities exude urban sophistication, rich in history, the arts, entertainment and other cosmopolitan delights.

After an early breakfast you will be transferred from your hotel to Cape Town Airport in time for your scheduled flight to Johannesburg. On arrival connect with your flight to Kruger-Mpumalanga where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge. Spend 2-nights including all meals and two game drives daily.

Lion Sands River Lodge, in the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve, is situated in the southern portion of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The lodge, built on the banks of the Sabie River, has 10 km/6 miles of Sabie River frontage with a high concentration of game around the river, especially during the dry seasons.  The 18 luxurious thatched bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, outdoor and inside showers and wooden viewing decks. All rooms are air-conditioned with an overhead ceiling fan, and have a mini-bar and telephone. The interior is a tranquil purple and cream haven, and the bathrooms have pebble-inlaid floors. Each bedroom has its own deck with a view of the river and is linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways. The lodge has a private lounge and bar, two swimming pools, wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks, conference room, health spa, curio shop, and both an indoor and open-air (Boma) dining area.

This afternoon you will take part in an open vehicle game drive.

Enjoy an early morning game drive in this wildlife paradise. Relax around the swimming pool or take a siesta to make up for the early morning wake-up call. In the late afternoon you will be taken on another safari under the guidance of Lion Sands' qualified game rangers and renowned Shangaan trackers. Exceptional game viewing has always been a trademark of Lion Sands.

At daybreak, guests meet for a welcoming cup of coffee before embarking on a dawn safari. Rangers and trackers greet the day by pointing out the wildlife, and even the most seasoned game viewer will learn something new and fascinating every day. Lion Sands is the only private game reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie River, which it shares with the Kruger National Park. The six miles of riverfront ensures a great diversity of wildlife and promises an African safari of a lifetime. It is an area of great diversity of both fauna and flora and the chances of seeing the “Big Five” - Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard – are excellent.

Go on an early morning game drive to track the animals that may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast. After a transfer to Kruger-Mpumalanga Airport you will fly to Johannesburg. (B)

On arrival at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport’s Central Terminal Building/Terminal B, connect with your scheduled international South African Airways flight back to the USA.
