Day 1

Depart from New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD) for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.

Day 2

On arrival in Johannesburg you may take the complimentary shuttle bus to your hotel.

Day 3

Take the complimentary shuttle bus to OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Upon arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast depart from Nairobi towards the north.

The drive to Shaba Game Reserve takes you through Embu country where most of Kenya’s rice and tea produce are grown. Enjoy magnificent views of Mount Kenya, Kenya’s Highest Mountain. This natural wonder is on the equator and has a permanent snow cap.

Experience game drives on safari in Shaba National Reserve which took its name from the massive cone of volcanic rock that dominates this region. The landscape is similar to nearby Samburu with riverine forests, acacia and doum palms. This area is famous for the association with Kenya's most renowned conservationists, George and Joy Adamson.

Built in an oasis around the natural terrain of this breathtaking volcanic desert, the lodge is attractively laid out with chalet style rooms overlooking the Uaso Nyiro River.

Day 5

Morning and afternoon game drives in Shaba.

Day 6

After breakfast the safari leaves Shaba and drives to Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley.

Upon arrival lunch will be served, followed by an afternoon game drive.

Lake Nakuru provides the visitor with one of Kenya's best known images. Thousands of flamingo, joined into a massive flock, fringe the shores of this soda lake. A pulsing pink swathe of life that carpets the water, the flamingo are a breathtaking sight. The lake has become world famous for these birds, who visit the lake to feed on algae that forms on the lake bed. They move back and forth, feeding and occasionally and spectacularly taking to flight, filling the sky over the lake with color. The lake is extremely variable in size- changing from 5 up to 30 sq. kms in area.

This is a major national park and an important sanctuary for Rhino. Both Black and White Rhino are found here, and are often seen resting under acacias by the lake shore.

The park abounds with game. There are huge herds of waterbuck, zebra, buffalo, the endangered Rothschild Giraffe and more. This is one of your best chances of seeing leopard in Kenya, and there are several large prides of Lion. Exploring beyond the lake is always rewarding and there are forests, cliffs, waterfalls and more to be found here. Nearby Nakuru town is a busy and thriving local center with a bustling market.

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic vistas of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 7

After breakfast continue to the Masai Mara where lunch will be served on arrival followed by an afternoon game drive.

South Western Kenya is the heartland of the Masai.

They regard themselves not just as residents of this area but that they are as much a part of the life of the land as the land is part of their lives. Full day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives.

Day 9

After a final breakfast depart from the lodge for a short safari in the Mara en route back to Nairobi.

Arrival in Nairobi around mid-day and transfer to the airport for your outbound flight to Johannesburg and onward connection to the United States.

Arrival in the United States at New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD) airports.
