Day 1
Depart from New York or Washington DC for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.
Day 2
On arrival in Johannesburg you will connect onwards for your 2 hour flight on South African Airways to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town you will be met for your transfer to your hotel. Check-in and enjoy a well deserved rest after your flight.

Day 3
After breakfast you will be met by your local English speaking driver-guide for your full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. The tour takes you out of the city along the Atlantic sea-board to the fishing port of Hout Bay, where you can partake in an optional boat excursion to Seal Island to view a colony of Cape Fur Seals. From Hout Bay continue over Chapman's Peak Drive (weather conditions permitting) to the Cape Point Nature reserve, the south-western most tip of Africa. Here you will have time to explore the awe-inspiring scenery from all the vantage points, as well as the opportunity to visit the Cape of Good Hope. You will have time for lunch (for your own account) before starting the return journey to the city. En route you will have the possibility for an optional visit to the penguin colony on Boulder's Beach before visiting the naval town of Simon's Town. Your last stop of the day will be the world renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Leaving the gardens you will return to the city.

Day 4
After breakfast your local English speaking driver-guide will meet you at the hotel for a morning tour of the Cape wine region. Your tour will include a visit to the Anura Wine Estate where you will tour the wine cellars followed by a tasting of their celebrated wines. From here proceed to the historic town of Stellenbosch, South Africa's second oldest town, full of well preserved Cape Dutch homesteads. After your visit to Stellenbosch proceed to the Spier complex, where you will be able to enjoy the multitude of facilities on the complex, as well as an optional visit to the Cheetah Outreach project. Time permitting a second wine tasting will be undertaken before returning to the city for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 5
A full day at leisure to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town. Maybe take a trip in the cable car up Table Mountain or a boat ride for a poignant visit to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years. Perhaps take time to explore the vibrant V&A Waterfront with its many shops, restaurants and activities available as well as the fascinating Two Oceans Aquarium. In the summer months maybe head for the white sand beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay for people watching and soaking up the African Sun. Whatever else, you will not be at a loss for things to do!

Day 6
After breakfast you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. On arrival you will be met for your transfer to Protea Kruger Gate Lodge, situated just over 100 yards from the Kruger National Park, on the banks of the Sabie River. Time permitting you can partake in an option afternoon safari into the Kruger Park, or just relax on the raised deck overlooking the Sabie River into the Kruger National Park, where you often see game coming down to the river. This evening dinner will be served in the open-air "Boma" under the African night sky (weather permitting)

Day 7
Depart after an early breakfast for a full day safari in open 4x4 vehicles with qualified ranger in the Kruger National Park (excludes park entrance fees). The Kruger National Park is the premier game reserve in South Africa and home to some 147 species of mammal including giraffe, zebras, hippos, wildebeest, cheetahs, wild dogs and of course the famous "Big Five" ~ lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. There will be a stop for lunch (for own account) at one of the parks restcamps during the safari. In the late afternoon depart from the park and return to your lodge.

Day 8
Time permitting take an optional early morning safari before you are transferred to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and onwards connection to the United States.
Day 9
Arrival in the United States at New York JFK or Washington Dulles airports.
