Depart from New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD) for your South African Airways flight to South Africa.

Day 2

On arrival in Johannesburg you will connect onwards for your flight to Maun.

On arrival at Maun Airport, a Safari Air representative will meet and assist you to your onward flight.

Depart Maun on a shared light aircraft charter flight to Okuti Camp.

On arrival at the airstrip a representative will meet and transfer you to the camp.

This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River, which flows through Moremi Game Reserve's Xakanaxa Lagoon. Offering a welcome touch of comfort, Okuti has recently been rebuilt amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana's prime game viewing regions.

Okuti caters for a maximum of 18 guests in large, beautifully-appointed rooms each featuring an en-suite bathroom with inside and outside showers, hot and cold running water and flush toilets. Five rooms are twin-bedded and two are family rooms consisting of two bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Experience game drives in Moremi Game Reserve in specially-designed safari vehicles, allowing unhindered views for game viewing and photography. Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife and game viewing is consistent year round, hence it is ideal for the first time visitor to Botswana. In addition to game drives you can explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat – from open lagoons to winding channels it is a birder's paradise, especially for herons and storks in the breeding season.

Day 4

The morning is at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer. After breakfast a camp representative will transfer you to the airstrip. Depart Okuti Camp on a Safari Air shared light aircraft charter flight to Kanana Camp.

Kanana is a hidden jewel set on the Xudum River in the southwest Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knob thorn trees, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

Guests are accommodated in eight spacious, twin-bedded tents, set on raised teak decks which offer breathtaking views across the waterways. Dependent on the height of annual floods, the level of water transforms this dry camp into a true water experience and in the early months of the year you may actually enjoy the visible spectacle of the water rising around the camp. All tents offer en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents are well spaced to afford privacy, whilst still being within comfortable distance from the central dining and lounge area.

Situated in a private concession a wide variety of activities are available at Kanana. Activities vary with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta, and your professional guide will assist you in planning your days to best explore the area. Game drives in specially designed vehicles take place in the morning and late afternoon, and further into the evening on night drives. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by Mokoro or motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding in the area is superb; Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry that teems with activity from July to December and converts all visitors to avid "twitchers" at first sight. Guided walks are highly recommended in this pretty area, as well as fly or spin fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharp tooth catfish.

Day 6

Depart Kanana Camp on a shared light aircraft charter flight to Shinde Camp.

On arrival at the airstrip a representative will meet and transfer you to the camp. Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp at the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which teems with animal and birdlife. The main lodge's unique tree house comprises a multi-tiered and canvas covered raised dining and lounge area. It's setting, amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees, complements the atmosphere of this truly original safari camp.

Shinde comprises eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Every possible comfort has been catered for – from mosquito nets, electric ceiling fans, generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a decanter of sherry! Each strategically positioned tent offers splendid views, whether across the Okavango Delta's mysterious waterways or open grasslands. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three-quarter size beds, however double accommodation is available on request.

Shinde's location affords water and land access throughout the year, providing a diverse range of activities. Motorboat or Mokoro activities provide guests the chance to experience the incredible number of bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives are conducted with a personal guide in specially-designed, comfortable vehicles and guided walks are also available for the more adventurous. Fly fishing enthusiasts can fish for a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish.

Enjoy a morning game viewing activity followed by breakfast. You will depart on a shared light aircraft charter flight to Maun airport. Here you will depart on your flight to Johannesburg and connect onwards to New York (JFK) or Washington Dulles (IAD) Airport.

Note

This tour can begin in Washington Dulles instead of New York, however, this would necessitate an overnight stop in Johannesburg at the beginning of the journey before flying to Maun. Please contact us for prices for this option.
